I began my fitness journey early into high school as a way to improve my confidence and performance in sports. I enrolled in weight training classes while I practiced wrestling, soccer, and cross country. Traditional lifting seemed to help early on and after high school I decided to join the Navy. I had done a fair share of calisthenics in high school but with hopes of excelling in the military I increased the volume and intensity. I felt some tightness, and small pains here and there, so I started stretching and doing yoga to compliment my training. By the time I was 23 I started to develop knee pain, hip pain, low back pain, and had unstable shoulders. I went through the medical process: x-rays, physical therapy, MRIs, NSAIDs etc. As the pain persisted I tried chiropractors, acupuncture, and massage and nothing seemed to help. By the age of 25, I tore my labrum in my left shoulder practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. My back would spasm to the point where I would collapse and couldn’t move at all, and my knee would hurt 24/7. I again went through the medical system and alternative approaches and found NO RESULTS. Desperate to find solutions so I could avoid surgeries, I got certified in different systems one of them being Functional Patterns.

At first, FP challenged my way of thinking about how the body worked. I have Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science and never had they mentioned Tensegrity or how important it is to train in a way that respects our Human Biology. Not only did FP mention that, but they knew how to apply it, and showcased results. The more I let go of my previous notions of what I knew, the more I was able to apply this new way of thinking about the body and the better my body felt. I had to learn more. 4 years later and not only does my body look completely different than it did, it also feels like a brand new body.

Throughout these past few years, I have trained clients with all sorts of backgrounds and injuries. The common remark is: “Wow! I can’t believe how good my body feels!” Most clients, like myself have a preconceived notion of how training is supposed to be and how the body is supposed to work. After a few sessions implementing FP techniques, and clients begin to see their body through a new lens and begin to move with a new understanding that leaves them wanting more!

Join the thousands of people around the world and begin your journey to learn how to move like a human! Whether you are struggling to get out of pain, trying to get in shape or want to learn how to move your body and become more athletic– I look forward to being able to help you get the results you’re looking for!
